Along with having fun and showing support to the Welsh language in a visual and noisy way, Ras yr Iaith has another purpose, which is to raise money that will eventually be fed back to the local communities the Race has visited, on a grant form. Every penny raised is fed back to organisations whom use the Welsh clearly and decisively.
Ras yr Iaith and Mentrau Iaith Cymru offer an opportunity for community organisations and groups to try for the grant helping promote the Welsh language in their communities.
